Chatbot for lead conversion with WhatsApp
Gustavo owns a drawing course aimed at children. He produced and sells the course by marketing it on Instagram, where children click on the button to learn more about the course and are directed to Gustavo's WhatsApp for him to call them. After a long time with the course online, Gustavo ended up creating a conversation script that worked well. With came the idea of using a chatbot to automate lead conversion. However the free chatbots available in the market were very limited, they didn't send audios and the customer needed to respond with numbers to follow a pre configured flow.
What was my role in this project?
One day, I talked with Gustavo and decided to create a chatbot for him that would meet his needs. First I did a technical feasibility study that proved it was possible to create this chatbot. Studying the WhatsApp Cloud API documentation I saw that the limitation of requests and conversations was enough for Gustavo's use case. So I started the development using NextJS and using Vercel's infrastructure because it is free and already has SSL (HTTPS) without any additional configuration. I aligned with Gustavo what the conversation script was, I programmed it without using any artificial intelligence until the moment, given that the script would work for 97% of the people without needing to understand the users intentions during the conversation. After the flow was stable and working, we started running the automated script and Gustavo would continue the conversation only with the leads that were really interested in the product, saving a lot of time and cognitive load during the day to keep making these calls. The chatbot also sent messages after a while to remind the customer to respond. Currently the project is paused, but we aim to get this project running again soon, the next step will be to allow Gustavo's affiliates to use the chatbot as well
